A market town for more than 800 years.
Bury St Edmunds' market tradition was formally recognised by a charter granted by King John in 1202. Today its markets remain an important part of town-centre life, bringing traders and shoppers together every week. Market days, hours and stall line-ups may change, especially on public holidays. This is an independent local guide, not the market organiser's official website.
